What to expect from my workshops

The insights and knowledge I share in sessions are based on my unique experiences. The way I deliver content offers a fresh perspective on the things that may or may not be working within the Care and Mental Health System. The things I talk about will encourage professionals to look at their current ways of thinking and working. I’m extremely passionate about seeing the ‘system’ become a safer place for both children and vulnerable adults. I have key insights into mental health and trauma and I aim to inform, inspire & impact.

1. Lived Experience: A Trauma-Informed Perspective

Authentic stories from my time in the care system, including behaviours shaped by trauma and examples of responses I experienced as helpful and unhelpful. The session includes a case-study exercise based on my experiences, with opportunities for discussion and real-time reflection.

2. Lived Experience: Insights Into Relationships - Biological Family

An intimate and reflective session exploring relationships with biological family. Using real photos and video footage from my childhood, alongside interactive discussion, the workshop explores sibling dynamics, my relationship with my mum, and the importance of positive engagement with birth families.

3. Lived Experience: Insights Into Relationships - Caregivers

A candid exploration of attachment and the role caregivers play in the lives of looked-after children. Drawing on my experiences with foster carers, children’s home staff, boarding school staff and supported lodgings providers, I share honest reflections on 'the good, the bad and the ugly'.

Client Testimonials

“I found Esther’s training highly engaging, I have attended limited sessions delivered from a lived-experience perspective, I found this approach particularly impactful. As a social worker, I felt the training was especially relevant—highlighting how the actions of professionals influenced her feelings and experiences.”
Social Worker - Trafford Local Authority
“ I thought Esther was great and it is so impactful to have someone speak from personal experience. I work in a special school, however I still found it extremely relevant as the main message was 'behaviour is communication' and we need to look beneath the behaviour to find the underlying issue.”
